Daily Painting 001 – Storm & Oasis

The daily painting challenge started today! My goal is to get to at least 100 days. My boyfriend thinks it’s a huge commitment, but I feel like it’s just the right number. 30 would be not a enough for me to really form a long habit and 100 days from today is January 1st 2016. Perfect date to end this great project (or maybe make it another 365 days!).

Yesterday I bought lots of canvas boards in all kinds of sizes. Very small ones, for the days I’m too intimidated by the white canvas (thankfully that doesn’t happen too often), rectangle & square shapes and a few slightly bigger sizes for my most confident days 😉 I hope that after the first 30 days I will have some favorite sizes to work with and my paintings will be more cohesive.

I just knew that I wanted to start with acrylics. I really love to work with them, they are so easy to use, they dry fast and the colors are vibrant. I also knew that I wanted to paint abstract, I’m always so inspired by shapes and images, not by the subject of the image, more of the way everything works together to build the subject & the mood of the colors.

Thing’s I’ve learned I don’t like earthy colors all that much. I prefer more cool tones & contrasts.
