Daily Painting 007 – Ice Flowers

I finished the first 7 days of the daily painting challenge! One week in and I already made 12 paintings! You just need to start and do it, that’s what I learned.

I love being spontaneous but this was just insane – and it wasn’t even hard to do it. I know, I know, there will come days when I’m uninspired and tired and then it will be hard, but right now it’s awesome. Anyway, I also filmed today’s painting process (EDIT: here it is: Ice Flowers Speed Painting) and I really love the outcome of it. I tried to be a bit less abstract this time and I was inspired by this photograph:

When I’m inspired by photographs I don’t like to exactly copy them, I like to interpret them in my own way. In this case I mostly liked the general shape of those flowers (Are they even real flowers? What are they? Comment if you know 😀 ). They just looked weird and interesting to me, so I mostly borrowed the composition, while still trying to make everything more abstract and paint like I feel it, very intuitional, and it turned out beautiful.

Thing’s I’ve learned Having an idea of what you want to paint before you start painting is always a good idea.
New Things I’ve tried Working in a more monochromatic color theme.
