It’s nearly christmas time already! I was sick twice in the last 2 weeks so I’m a bit behind on the painting updates. Are you all already in a christmas mood? I’m not the biggest christmas fan but I still love to spend some cozy days at home with lots of love and great food. I can’t wait!
My paintings over the last few weeks began to take longer and longer. I somehow wasn’t as fast and productive, I tried some new techniques, had some hits and misses and sometimes I was frustrated (like every artist is from time to time). There are weeks when I’m so inspired and could paint for hours and then there are weeks when I don’t feel creative at all and I think it’s not that something has changed, it’s just that I got too comfortable with what I do.
I’m still trying to keep a balance between being myself and going completely out of the box with experimenting on new things. As you can see in that next painting underneath. It’s not my style and not something I will pursue further but it had to get out of my head for me to continue with what I love to do: looser brush strokes with transparencies vs. thick impasto palette knife work. No risk, no fun (no style) – right?
And because life is not always about art. I got back into reading the last few weeks. As some of you might know I’m quite an avid reader but I got into a reading slump this year and read ‘only’ 16 books until now. That’s such a setback to my 60+ from last year. I’m currently trying to push myself to read more & I’m going back to when I’m finished with this blog post.
I also have another recommendation for you, the audiobook for . Such a thrilling book, it’s written from the view of a stalker and narrated so amazingly by . If you loved books like Gone Girl, then check this one out 🙂
I hope you will have a great weekend! Don’t get too stressed out by christmas shopping, and for those of you who don’t celebrate christmas then I hope you still have a wonderful next week! I’ll be back soon with great & exciting news for my work in January. I can’t wait to tell you all.
Lots of love,
