Daily Painting – Muttersprache

Bad news upfront: I totally missed my 30 painting goal for this month! January is not over yet, but I still haven’t really updated my blog every day and I wasn’t so happy to share all my experimental paintings, especially the ones I didn’t like.

I actually did a lot of other painting work this month. The first one is watercolor painting, I did a class at Craftsy – Sketching Landscapes in Pen, Ink & Watercolor by Shari Blaukopf. Which was really inspiring in picking up my watercolors again. More to this in the next blog posts when I’ve photographed some of my little experimental paintings.

I also got a new book by Claire Harrigan, an amazing abstract painter. Unfortunately she doesn’t seem to have a website, but I’ll do a book review for sure. Her work is so colorful and fun, exactly the things I want to express with mine and I think I can learn a lot from her. The paintings she inspired me to do will also be in some of the next blog posts, so stay tuned!

In the mean time here is a daily painting I did in November 2015, and I was happy to have a view in-progress images for you. It’s one of those paintings where I felt a little bit lost and had to push myself to try some new techniques because nothing I usually did seemed to work. I ended up with some scraping and oil pastels on top and in the end really loved the outcome. I feel like it has a collage vibe, lots of different layers.
